Clare & The Aran Islands
4th – 8th July 2013: 5 Day Tour
Our tour is based in Lisdoonvarna, in the heart of the Burren, an ideal base to explore West Clare. The tour combines the lunar-like landscapes of the Burren, with the wild seascapes of the Aran Islands. Our hotel in the centre of Lisdoonvarna ensures lively craic in the evenings, and time at leisure in Galway City means there’s a chance for a bit of shopping too! This tour really is “The Best of the West”.
Thurs 4th: Letterkenny – Westport – Connemara - Lisdoonvarna
We travel into the heart of the West of Ireland today, stopping in the picture perfect town of Westport before continuing through Connemara on our way to Lisdoonvarna, our home for the next 4 nights.
Fri 5th: Day Tour to Limerick & Adare
This morning we will travel through South Clare and into nearby Limerick to the picturesque village of Adare, with it's thatched cottages and beautiful gardens. We visit the popular seaside town of Lahinch and the famous Cliffs of Moher en-route back to our hotel for dinner and music in Lisdoonvarna.
Sat 6th: The Aran Islands Day Tour
This morning our coach will transfer us to Doolin to catch the ferry to Inis Mor, the largest of the three Aran Islands. On the island we have time to visit the magnificent Dun Aonghasa, with it's sheer cliffs and beautiful seascapes. The visit to this island set in the wild Atlantic Ocean will be the highlight of the tour for many. We return to our hotel for dinner and music.
Sun 7th: Afternoon Tour to Kilfenora – Black Head
We enjoy a Sunday morning at leisure and in the afternoon why not join us on our trip to historic Kilfenora followed by a scenic drive along "Black Head" with fine views of the Aran Islands and the Atlantic Ocean.
Mon 8th: Lisdoonvarna - Galway - Letterkenny
Today we leave Lisdoonvarna and enjoy spectacular views of Galway Bay, before we arrive in Galway City. Here we do a short city tour taking in the Spanish Arches, Galway Cathedral, Eyre Square, and The Claddagh, before some free time to enjoy this rich cultural city, and of course, a bit of shopping. In the afternoon we leave Galway for our journey home after a wonderful long weekend in Clare.
