Westport Country Music Break
7th – 11th April 2013: 5 Day Break
Following the success of last year’s music tours, ‘Mangan Tours’ are delighted to be joining ‘Paul Claffey Tours’ again to bring you an all star line-up including Mike Denver, Declan Nearney, Nathan Carter, Brendan Shine, Jimmy Buckley, Michael English and Shaun Cuddy. This music break is hosted in Westport, one of Ireland’s most popular tourist towns and the ideal spot for a few day‘s craic!
Sun 7th: Letterkenny – Sligo - Westport
We leave Letterkenny and enjoy a leisurely drive to the harbour town of Westport, stopping in Sligo en-route. This evening we can relax and settle into our 4 star hotel ideally located in the centre of the town. After dinner, we enjoy our first night's show with our country stars.
Mon 8th: Day Trip to Achill
Today we have a day tour along the northern shore of Clew Bay before crossing the causeway to Achill Island, the largest island off the Coast of Ireland. The island is dominated by two peaks, Slievemore and Croghaun, and is home to Kildavnet Castle, associated with Granuaile (Grace O'Malley) the famous "Pirate Queen of the West". We return to our hotel with time to relax, enjoy dinner, and another night of great live music.
Tues 9th: Free Day in Westport
A day at our leisure to explore this cheerful, lively town with it's multi-coloured shop fronts and a variety of cafes, bars, and restaurants. Perhaps treat ourselves to a shopping spree or relax and revive ourselves in the hotel's spa and wellness centre. Once more, this evening we are treated to an unforgettable night of the best of Irish country music, craic, and dancing.
Wed 10th: Day Trip to Killary Harbour & Leenane
Today we travel through Louisburg and along the Doogh Lough Valley before reaching the shores of Killary Harbour, Ireland's only Fjord. We continue to the town of Leenane, the setting for the hit movie "The Field", before returning to Westport and our hotel for the last night of the tour and more great live music.
Thurs 11th: Westport – Sligo - Letterkenny
After a morning at leisure, we leave Westport and return home, with tired feet but happy hearts!
